The Claddagh Ring is said to be in existence since the 17th century. It's origin has been traced back to the old fishing village situated on the shore or "Claddagh" of Galway Bay, Ireland. Many romantic tales surround the history of the Claddagh, it is customary to give or receive this emblem as a token of love or affection.The design shows two hands holding a heart crowned - the theme suggesting " Let Love And Friendship Reign". To this day the Claddagh is used as a wedding ring.
